We Welcome You to Hairy Business

When founder David Holland got out of the Navy, he was questioning what steps to take next. He then received a professional haircut, and everything changed. As the first one in his lifetime, this experience changed and inspired him. He headed right to cosmetology school.

Wanting to make people feel the same way he did, he opened Hairy Business and hired some of the most talented stylists in Starke, Florida. He truly loves his work as much as the first day he started his education. See what these passionate stylists can do when you walk in our salon today.

Just a Little History

In 1964, The Beatles crossed the pond and spawned a longer hair trend very quickly. Inspired by the look and noticing the way these cuts changed men, Peter Coppola toyed with the idea of offering this style to his clients. He ultimately shelved this notion because it was illegal for men to get their hair cut in a beauty salon at that time.

However, in 1972, Coppola butted heads with the Barber's Union and tried to fight the ban of men having their hair styled in salons. He and his fellow hairdressers hired a lawyer and pleaded their case with the New York Supreme Court. The very next day, New York coined a new term for hair salons; "unisex."

Salon StaffWithout this amazing piece of history, Hairy Business and many other salons wouldn't be here today. Thank you, Mr. Coppola!
